Newcastle Youth Orchestra is embarking on an exciting new chapter, focusing on:

• Expanding our regional presence across the Hunter

• Strengthening cultural engagement and diversity

• Breaking down barriers to participation

• Building collaborative partnerships with other regional youth orchestras

• Providing enhanced performance opportunities

 

 

Key Changes for 2025

1. Age Structure Update

• Maximum player age set at 25 years

• Commitment to clear pathways for musical growth

• Enhancing community and providing opportunities for young people to build relationships

2. Simplified Fee Structure

Our new fee structure aims to make participation more accessible while ensuring program sustainability:

• Standardised fee across all ensembles

• Situations change, so we have simplified single term enrolment

• Creative Kids Vouchers will continue to be accepted

​

3. Enhanced Programming

• Full orchestral experiences across all ensembles

• Term-based projects culminating in performances

• Increased performance opportunities in a diversity of venues

 

4. Improved Support Systems

• Enhanced communication

• Structured parent volunteer engagement opportunities

• Updated Child Safe policies and procedures

• New Welcome Pack for families

• Enhanced staff training and development

 

5. Community Impact Initiatives

We're introducing several new programs to strengthen our community presence:

• Partnerships with a diverse range of community groups

• Expanded regional performance program

• Collaborative projects with other youth orchestras

• Accessibility initiatives for under-represented communities
